Markdown Optimisation Analyst

Your key responsibilities will be:
- Set and provide guidance on optimal markdown parameters.
- Set and provide rules based on category financial plans.
- Determine optimal markdown strategy.
- Recommend and execute optimized, progressive clearance markdowns or multi-buy promotions maximizing profit and sell-through, including utilizing forecasts of changes in sales, margin, and unit demand with markdown recommendation.
- Monitor performance: review and validate actual performance against projections and expectations to identify underperforming items or categories and adjust markdown strategy to meet financial targets (partner with Planning team).
- Develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc analyses for use in monitoring and reviewing SKU, category, and department markdown financial results compared to plan.
- Identify trends and leverage analyses to formulate future plans and forecasts.
- Supports development/implementation of new markdown pricing optimization tools and processes.
- Support change management through partnership with key cross-functional business areas such as Planning and Buying.
Skills and experience we are looking for:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Price and Inventory Management or Merchandise Planning; experience in a retail environment is preferred.
- Master’s degree, preferably in Economics, Product Management, Production Management, Mathematics, Commerce, or another relevant technical field.
- Excellent proficiency in MS Excel (essential).
- Very good knowledge of MS Word and MS PowerPoint (experience with Power BI is a plus).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Power add-ins (e.g., Power Query, Power Pivot) is a plus.
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Customer-focused mindset with a strong orientation towards retail performance and business results.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong planning, organizational, and prioritization skills.
