Group Procurement Category Manager (GPCM) in Supply Chain (Road Freight /Warehouse)

 

Job Summary

 

Pepco Group, a leading retail conglomerate comprising Pepco, Poundland, Dealz, PGS & Group, is seeking a proactive and strategic Supply Chain Services Procurement Manager. This role will be pivotal in leading end-to-end procurement and vendor management within the Supply Chain Services Category Family.

As the Group Procurement Category Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies tailored to the Supply Chain Category Family. Your primary objectives will include driving efficiency, achieving cost savings, and advancing sustainability initiatives in line with business objectives. Reporting to the Group Head of Procurement Category, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with budgetary requirements and continuity of supply.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for Supply Chain, focusing on value added cost savings and sustainability activities;
  • Collaborate with Group Head of Procurement to optimize procurement strategy;
  • Maintain the commercial relationship with suppliers;
  • Pro-active communication with all relevant stakeholders to achieve the most effective procurement;
  • Arrange and facilitate meetings between stakeholders and suppliers when required;
  • Request quotations and negotiate optimum value with suppliers;
  • Review proposals and provide summary documentation to stakeholders;
  • To report any delivery exceptions to stake holders in a timely manner to manage expectations;
  • Liaise between suppliers and stakeholders to resolve any commercial issues;
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of the company’s ERP system and contribute to its ongoing development;
  • Ensure compliance with purchasing and finance policies;
  • Manage and develop a team of procurement professionals.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field – nice to have;
  • Proficiency in English;
  • At least 5 years of prior experience in procurement, commercial negotiation, and supplier management, ideally within a retail or related industry within the Supply Chain domain;
  • Experience in working with shipping lines;
  • Working knowledge and good understanding of Road Freight (FTL,LTL, Distribution), cost drivers, and ability to influence change;
  • Experience of the wide European road freight market;
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) qualification desirable;
  • Thorough understanding of retail and procurement dynamics;
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain supplier landscape;
  • Proficiency in procurement processes and financial analysis;
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication;
  • Leadership experience in procurement or related field;
  • Track record of delivering cost savings and supplier innovations;
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
