At Pepco, we are transforming the way we understand and serve our customers. As our business evolves across data, digital, loyalty and e-commerce, we are looking for a Head of Finance – Customer to play a critical role in shaping this journey.
This is a senior leadership position combining financial rigour, commercial thinking and strong business partnering. You will work closely with senior leaders across Customer, Marketing, Digital, IT, Transformation and Procurement, providing the financial insight, challenge and governance needed to make high-quality business decisions.
You will be a key finance partner to the Chief Customer Officer, working closely with the CIO, Chief Value Creation Officer and Procurement Director, partner with Commercial Finance Director, CFO and Finance Leadership Team.
What you will do
Lead and influence
- Lead, develop and inspire your team, while influencing a much broader community across Finance, Marketing, Digital, IT, Transformation and Procurement.
- Act as a trusted finance partner to senior leaders, combining constructive challenge with a strong focus on business performance.
- Partner with the CFO and Finance Leadership Team to shape the future direction of commercial finance.
- Build strong capabilities, processes and ways of working that enable consistent, high-quality decision support across functions and markets.
- Present financial insights to senior management and ExCo, focusing on the story behind the numbers and the actions required, rather than getting lost in detail.
Enable digital transformation
- Act as the Finance owner for the financial aspects of Pepco's digital transformation agenda.
- Support major initiatives across customer data, loyalty, digital and e-commerce.
- Partner with business leaders to build robust business cases, challenge assumptions, validate ROI and ensure appropriate cost allocation.
- Participate in Steering Committees for major strategic transformation programmes, providing financial insight and challenge.
Drive commercial performance
- Bring finance to the table in strategic discussions around customer, marketing, digital, e-commerce and transformation.
- Provide data-driven insight into commercial and operational performance across our markets.
- Challenge investment decisions and ensure that resources are allocated where they create the greatest value.
- Bring an external perspective by understanding customer behaviour, market trends and competitor activity and translating these insights into relevant business implications for Pepco.
Strengthen performance management and governance
- Establish robust processes to measure and optimise marketing investments across channels and markets.
- Analyse the financial and non-financial impact of marketing, digital and loyalty initiatives.
- Strengthen governance around OPEX, CAPEX and investment decisions.
- Establish clear mechanisms to track project expenditure and the realisation of expected benefits.
- Ensure procurement savings are consistently tracked and accurately reflected in overall cost management.
- Drive effective planning, forecasting and re-forecasting across Marketing, Digital, IT, Transformation and Procurement, identifying risks and opportunities early.
Build strong partnerships
You will work across the organisation and connect Finance with the wider business, partnering closely with:
- Chief Customer Officer and Customer teams
- CIO and IT
- Chief Value Creation Officer
- Procurement
- Marketing and Digital
- Trading and Central Retail Operations
- FP&A and Finance Change
- Country Finance teams
- Accounting and other corporate functions
Your ability to influence without relying solely on formal authority will be critical to your success.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a senior finance leader who combines strong financial expertise with commercial curiosity, maturity and the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders.
You will bring:
- 10–15 years of relevant finance experience gained in a large, complex organisation.
- Experience in retail, FMCG or another customer-focused environment is highly desirable, although not essential.
- Strong commercial finance / business partnering experience, ideally including exposure to digital, e-commerce, technology, marketing, transformation or procurement.
- Proven experience working with and challenging senior stakeholders, including ExCo-level leaders.
- A strong track record in strategic planning, forecasting, performance management and value creation.
- Experience leading direct teams and influencing broader, cross-functional teams.
- The ability to translate complex financial and business data into clear, actionable insights.
- Strong understanding of commercial drivers, investment decisions, ROI and cost management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility quickly at senior level.
- A proactive, pragmatic and solutions-oriented approach, comfortable operating in a fast-changing environment.
- Experience with financial reporting tools and ERP systems, with advanced Excel skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline. Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA or an MBA are an advantage.
- C1/C2 level English; additional languages are a plus.
