At Pepco, we're transforming the way Finance supports one of Europe's fastest-growing retail businesses. As our new Head of Country Finance Operations, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening financial governance, developing high-performing finance teams and driving operational excellence across multiple European markets.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, Pepco, you will lead an international network of 11 Country and Regional Finance Managers, ensuring the highest standards of statutory reporting, financial compliance and finance operations while partnering closely with Shared Services, Group Finance and senior business leaders.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced finance leader who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional leadership and the ability to drive change across a complex international organisation.

What you'll be responsible for

Build a high-performing Country Finance organisation

You'll lead, develop and inspire an international team of Country and Regional Finance Managers across Europe, creating a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.

Your focus will include:

• Building and strengthening Country Finance teams across multiple markets
• Developing leadership capability within your team 
• Creating effective organisational structures that support future business growth 
• Driving ownership and accountability for financial data at country level 

Drive statutory excellence and financial governance

You will ensure our markets consistently deliver high-quality statutory reporting and maintain strong financial governance across the organisation.

This includes:

• Overseeing statutory reporting across multiple European countries
• Supporting complex year-end closing processes
• Partnering with external auditors and local finance teams to resolve technical accounting matters
• Strengthening financial controls and compliance
• Providing oversight of outsourced tax processes together with local teams
• Ensuring the highest quality of financial reporting delivered by Country Finance and Shared Services

Lead Finance Operations and Transformation

You will help shape the future of Finance by leading operational improvements and supporting key transformation initiatives across the organisation.

Examples include:

• ERP implementations and country rollouts
• Finance process harmonisation
• Continuous improvement of finance operations
• Assessing the impact of transformation projects on local finance teams and ensuring successful adoption

Partner with senior stakeholders

You will work closely with senior leaders across Finance and the business, translating operational challenges into practical solutions and helping shape the future operating model of Finance.

Your stakeholders will include:

• Financial Controller
• Country Finance teams
• In – house Shared Services Centre
• Group Finance
• Internal Audit
• Tax teams
• Senior business leaders and ExCo members

What success looks like after your first year

After 12 months, you will have:

• Built a strong and stable Country Finance organisation across Europe
• Successfully filled critical leadership vacancies and strengthened team capability
• Increased ownership and accountability across local finance teams
• Delivered a smooth year-end close with no significant delays or audit issues
• Established Country Finance as a trusted partner for both the business and Group Finance
• Supported the successful delivery of key finance transformation initiatives

We're looking for someone who brings

• Significant leadership experience within Finance in a complex international organisation
• Strong background in Financial Control, Statutory Reporting, Controllership, Audit or Finance Operations
• Previous experience gained within a Big Four firm followed by a leadership role in industry is highly valued
• Deep understanding of statutory reporting, financial governance and external audit processes
• Good knowledge of IFRS and its practical application
• Experience working with ERP environments and understanding how finance systems support financial reporting and compliance
• Solid understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes, with the ability to challenge assumptions and improve financial planning quality
• Experience leading finance transformation or operational improvement projects
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence senior leaders across an international organisation
• Retail experience is welcome but not essential.
